| Eng 352 - Technical Writing (Prerequisite: HSS 101): An
advanced writing course. Combines current theory with actual practice
to prepare students as technical writers. Analyze complex communication
situations and design appropriate responses through tasks that involve
problem solving, rhetorical theory, document design, oral presentations,
writing teams, audience awareness, ethical considerations, and gender
equity issues. |
Notice:
There are approximately two (2) assignments per week
in this course. If you miss the due date, you will receive no
credit. Therefore, you will need to keep up with the assignments
from the beginning. If you are new to WebCT, log on immediately and begin
familiarizing yourself with the environment.
Please be aware that online courses are harder than face-to-face
courses - it is up to you to turn in your assignments
on time. Therefore, you should not take this course unless
you are self-disciplined and can manage your time. Also, studies have
shown that students are less satisfied with online courses.

We are using the new WebCT 6 this semester, an upgrade
from WebCT 4. Here are the instructions for accessing WebCT 6:

Before logging in, it is a good idea to click
on the “Check Browser” link at the top of the screen.

The “Check Browser” link will make
sure that you are using a browser that is supported, that cookies
and JavaScript are enabled, that your pop-up blocker is turned
off and that you are using a supported version of Java.

Please be aware that your browser may have multiple pop-up blockers
installed.

Once you have confirmed that you browser is properly
configured, click on the “Log In” button.

You will be asked for your “User name”
and “Password”. This will be your UCID login and password.

The first time you log-in you will be asked to
accept NJIT’s security certificate. For more information
on accepting our security certificates please see the tutorials
at http://webct.njit.edu/webct6 or http://ist.njit.edu/support/certificate/index.php.

Locate your course from the course list and click
on the title for the course.
If at any time you are experiencing problems with your browser or are
unable to log in please let the helpdesk know at 973-596-2900 (be sure
to tell them you are using WebCT 6).
Finally, please be aware that WebCT 6 and WebCT 4 are installed on two
different machines. Therefore, if you are enrolled in another course that
uses WebCT 4 please remember to also check that site regularly.
