OBJECTIVES

The transition towards service-oriented computing necessitates re-evaluation of design methodologies that are used in the construction of enterprise applications. Web Services design is an active research area and while there is some agreement about the basic design principles there are no comprehensive design methodologies for Web Services at present. There is a need for input from the research community and industry-based practitioners in order to develop design frameworks to support best practices for Web Services projects. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers and industry experts and provide a forum for exchange of ideas about design of Web Services and related issues. The focus of this workshop will be on methods, frameworks and approaches for the design of service-oriented applications.

TOPICS

We invite submissions on topics related to design of service-oriented applications, including but not limited to the following:

·          Design methods and guidelines for developing service-oriented applications

·          Design of industry-domain Web Services

·          Design of Web Services for enterprise applications

·          Methods for transforming existing component-based applications to Web Services

·          Design approaches for Web Services composition

·          Web Services design and interoperability case studies

·          Analysis and modeling approaches for service-oriented applications

·          Current challenges and future directions for design of service-oriented applications

PAPER SUBMISSIONS

Authors are invited to submit original research papers. Papers should be written in English using the Springer's LNCS style (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html), and must not exceed 8 pages. Please, submit papers in MS Word or PDF format via the submission website: http://elab.njit.edu/wdsoa05/submit.

All submissions will be reviewed by members of the program committee and papers will be selected based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of the presentation. All accepted papers will be included in the workshop proceedings and formally published as IBM research report. Due to time limitations only a small number of papers will be presented orally. All accepted papers will be distributed electronically to participants before the workshop and will form the basic for workshop discussion. At least one author of an accepted paper must register and participate in the workshop.
