CONSTITUTION OF NEW JERSEY INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES GROUP (SOCIETY of INDUSTRIAL and APPLIED MATHEMATICS CLUB)
(Last modified: January 29th, 2000) ARTICLE I: NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION The name of this organization shall be known as the Mathematical Science Group / Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics Club) at New Jersey Institute of Technology (hereinafter MSG/SIAM Club). ARTICLE II: PURPOSE The purposes of the organization are to enclose the friendship among all graduate students of NJIT, to attract people who enjoy the strength of Mathematics, to coordinate seminars with the Department of Mathematical Sciences of NJIT, and to spread the existence, uniqueness, and stability of the power of Mathematics. ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP Eligibility for membership of MSG/SIAM Club: 1. All graduate students of NJIT should be eligible for membership of MSG/SIAM Club regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion, nationality, handicap, marital status or political opinions. 2. All others that are not stated in above but identified with the purpose of MSG/SIAM Club can be honorary members. All honorary members have no right to vote. 3. All graduate students in the Mathematical Sciences Department of NJIT are automatically the members of the MSG/SIAM Club. Any person desiring membership of MSG/SIAM Club shall register with the Vice President. ARTICLE IV: ORGANIZATIONAL AFFILIATION MSG/SIAM Club is a registered student organization with NJIT. This organization shall operate within the rules and regulations set forth by NJIT. ARTICLE V: OFFICERS The officers of MSG/SIAM Club shall be one President, one Vice President, one executive secretary, and one treasurer. ARTICLE VI: GENERAL ASSEMBLY 1. The President shall summon the General Assembly when necessary. If more than one-half (1/2) of the membership requests a General Assembly in writing, the President shall announce and summon such a meeting within two weeks after receiving the petition. 2. The quorum shall not be less than one-third (1/3) of the total membership. ARTICLE VII: AMENDMENT 1. This constitution can only be amended through requests by at least one-third (1/3) of all members in writing and confirmation by at least two-thirds (2/3) of voters in the General Assembly. 2. During the General Assembly, any member can address to express a concern or grievance as well as any proposed amendment to the Constitution. Another member must second the motion. The President then will have the right to decide whether to vote during the time of meeting or to postpone until next meeting. 3. All revisions, additions, amendments and/or changes to the Constitution shall in addition be submitted to MSG/SIAM Club and the Vice President of the NJIT Graduate Student Association for certification as to conformance with the by-laws of the NJIT Graduate Student Association. |
