Membership in the NJIT STC

Student Membership

To be eligible for student membership, applicants must:

  • be enrolled in an accredited university, college, community college, or technical school;
  • taking two courses (or their equivalent)
  • be preparing for a career in technical communication.

New student members joining between November and December pay $56 for the following year. New student members joining January , pay $56 for the year. Students cannot use the online form; they must submit a printed application because faculty signatures are required. Contact Nancy Coppola for the application.

For those of you who are already student members and have not renewed your membership, you can do it via the STC website. Since recently the STC decided all student members must be full time and then rescinded that decision, there is some confusion on the site. You may need to send in a copy of your student ID, but you do NOT need to be a "full time" student.

Regular Membership

Individual membership is open to all those interested in technical communication. STC members can belong to two chapters. If you are not eligible for student membership, it is still advantageous to join because of access to the STC networking and jobs database.

Benefits of Membership

  • Access to STC's Jobs Database
  • Networking opportunities
  • Unrestricted access to STC's website
  • Subscriptions to the Society's magazines, Intercom and Technical Communication
  • ... and more
