You can use the directions below or, if you want, you can use  MapQuest (www.mapquest.com) to get your own directions using the destination of 154 Summit Street, Newark, NJ 07102.  This is the address for NJIT’s Parking Deck.  

 

Parking

The Computer Science Department is located in the GITC building. There are 2 places that we typically use for visitor parking:

 

• Parking Lot 7
• NJIT Parking Deck

Directions to NJIT (to Parking Lots 7 and Parking Deck)

• Garden State Parkway (GSP): Take exit 145 to Route 280 East, then follow Route 280 East directions.
• New Jersey Turnpike: Take exit 15W to Route 280 West, then follow Route 280 West directions.
• Route 280 West: After drawbridge, take Exit 14B (Broad Street/King Blvd.). At bottom of exit ramp, make a left. Go one block to stop sign. Make a left on King Blvd.

• Parking Lot 7: Go four lights to Central Ave. Make a right on Central Ave. Go half a block and make a left on Summit St. Go up one block to guard station. The guard will help you. Lot 7 is on your right.
• NJIT Parking Deck: Go five lights to Warren Street. Make a right on Warren Street. Go two blocks to Colden Street. Make a left on Colden Street. Follow signs to NJIT Parking Deck.

• Route 280 East: Take Exit 13 (First Street/Newark). At light, make a right on First Street. Now pick one of the following two options:

o       Parking Lot 7: Go two lights to Central Ave. Make a left on Central Ave. Go past two lights. Go half a block and make a right on Summit St. Go up one block to guard station. The guard will help you. Lot 7 is on your right.

o       NJIT Parking Deck:   Go three lights to W. Market Street. Make the soft left on W. Market Street. Go four lights to King Blvd. Make a left on King Blvd.   Go one light to Warren Street. Make a left on Warren Street. Go two blocks to Colden Street. Make a left on Colden Street. Follow signs to NJIT Parking Deck.

• Route 1 & 9 North & South: Take exit marked Newark, Route 21 (McCarter Highway). Cross bridge. At light at end of bridge, make quick left then quick right for Broad Street. (There are clear signs for Broad Street.) Go about 1 mile. Make a left on Court Street. Make a right at third light onto King Blvd. Now pick one of the following two options:

• Parking Lot 7: Make a left at the sixth light on Central. Go half a block and make a left on Summit St. Go up one block to guard station. The guard will help you. Lot 7 is on your right.

o       NJIT Parking Deck: Make a left at fifth light on Warren Street. Go two blocks to Colden Street. Make a left on Colden Street. Follow signs to NJIT Parking Deck.

• Route 78: Take Route 78 to the Garden State Parkway. Follow GSP directions.

• Route 78 (alternate route): Take Exit 56 Hillside Avenue to Clinton Avenue, Follow exit as road bends left, puts you on Hillside Avenue.  Go through 4 lights, then you come to a “T” junction, make left, make immediate right at next light.  You will be on Irvine Turner Road. Now pick one of the following two options:

o       Parking Lot 7: At the 12th light (9th is W. Market, 10th is Warren), make right on to Central Avenue. Go half a block and make a right on Summit St. Go up one block to guard station. The guard will help you. Lot 7 is on your right.

• NJIT Parking Deck. At the tenth light make a right onto Warren. Go through 1 light. Before next light, make a right on Colden Street. Follow signs to NJIT Parking Deck.

• Route 22: Take Route 22 to Route 21 North. Follow directions for Route 21 North.

• Route 21 North: Cross the bridge. At light at end of bridge, make quick left then quick right for Broad Street. (There are clear signs for Broad Street.) Go about 1 mile. Make a left on Court Street. Make a right at third light on King Blvd. Pick one of the following two options.

• NJIT Parking Deck: Make a left at fifth light on Warren Street. Go two blocks to Colden Street. Make a left on Colden Street. Follow signs to NJIT Parking Deck.

• Route 21 South: From 21 South, turn right on Bridge Street. Turn left on Broad Street. Go one block and turn right on Washington Place. Go one block and turn left on Halsey Street. Go one block and turn right on Central Avenue.  Pick one of the following two options.

• Parking Lot 7: Go past 3 lights. Go half a block and make a left on Summit St. Go up one block to guard station. The guard will help you. Lot 7 is on your right.
• NJIT Parking Deck: Make the third left on King Blvd. At first light, turn right on Warren Street. Go two blocks to Colden Street. Make a left on Colden Street. Follow signs to NJIT Parking Deck.

• New York Thruway: Thruway to Exit 14A, Garden State Parkway. Follow GSP directions above.

• George Washington Bridge: NJ Turnpike South to Exit 15W. Follow Route 280 West directions above.

• Lincoln Tunnel: West on Route 3 to NJ Turnpike South to Exit 15W. Follow Route 280 West directions above.

• From Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island: Take Verrazano-Narrows Bridge (Interstate 278) and follow 278 across Staten Island. Cross Goethels Bridge. Follow signs to New Jersey Turnpike North then follow New Jersey Turnpike directions above.

Directions to Computer Science Dept  – GITC Building (from Parking Lots 7 and Parking Deck)

• Parking Lot 7: Make right out of parking lot and walk up the road. You will pass two buildings on your right.  The third building is GITC building, walk up the ramp and enter the building.  Once you enter the building, walk through to the front lobby.  Take the elevator to the 4^th floor.  Once you exit the elevator make right to room 4400. 
  
  

• NJIT Parking Deck:  After exiting the deck, turn right onto Summit St. Cross Warren Street. Continue walking on Summit St. towards the skyway and the Clock Tower.
  
  At the Clock Tower, turn left.  You will see the Campus Center (modern round building) on your right. Walk around Campus Center to come to Bleeker Street (with the library in front of you).
  
  Turn left on Bleeker and walk straight, pass a couple of buildings to GITC. Walk up the ramp and enter the building.  Once you enter the building, walk through to the front lobby.  Take the elevator to the 4^th floor.  Once you exit the elevator make right to room 4400.
