AFS is the primary academic computing environment at NJIT; an AFS account provides access to that environment.
Password change will be enforced by expiring the password after . In the AFS Kerberos implementation in use at NJIT, days until password expiration are measured from the date of the last password change. At the point when a user's AFS password expires, that user no longer has access to his/her AFS account. However, the user still has 30 days after the date of password expiration in which to change the password (i.e., a 30-day grace period), and thus regain access to the account; this can be done via the AFS password reset utility below. After that 30-day period, the only way for a user to directly change his/her password is via UPR (Unattended Password Reset). Users may also contact the Computing Helpdesk for assistance (973.596.2900 or http://help.njit.edu/contact).
