NJIT Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering

Ali Abdi (PhD), Professor

I received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota and joined the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department of New Jersey Institute of Technology. I am also a graduate faculty of the Department of Biological Sciences.

My research interests include wireless communication and propagation modeling in underwater, radio and oil wells drill string channels, source localization, vector acoustic communication and signal processing, channel and parameter estimation techniques, blind modulation recognition, computational and systems biology, analysis of molecular networks and disease, and cell signaling.

I am a Fellow of IEEE. I am also a Member of Society for Neuroscience (SfN) and Acoustical Society of America (ASA). I have served as technical program committee member or chair for a number of IEEE, SfN, ASA and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) conferences and sessions.

I have served as editor or guest editor for some IEEE journals and Transactions (most recently served as a guest editor for the IEEE Access journal special section on Underwater Wireless Communications and Networking, 2019). At NJIT, I am affiliated with the Center for Wireless Information Processing.
