A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

The walk through Tiernan Hall on January 16, 2007 felt familiar but new.  New, partially because as I walked with my head down at 7 AM, I noticed the shinning floor.  The same floor walked on everyday by many students who travel through Tiernan usually only shines on two days of the year as it did that morning, the first day of the fall semester, and the first day of the spring semester.  This shining floor made me think of the upcoming semester and how it is new in its own way.

First, Tiernan 103 got a face lift over the break by several dedicated officers who slapped fresh paint on the walls and redecorated.  The room has a fresh and new feel to it which is comforting and inviting for students to come in and study, socialize, and enjoy the company of others.  With the addition of a large refrigerator and freezer, the organization has decided to sell ice cream which had been much discussed for the past few years.  This is in addition to the candy and drink sales that have been established and will continue for years to come.

PRESIDENTS TABLE
Some upcoming events include a bowling event on campus for faculty, staff, and students, a plant tour to Anheuser-Busch and possibly a tour to Infineum if things work out. Some interesting speakers are coming in to talk about a range of topics from flavoring, to consulting. to wine tasting which might include a demonstration batch of how to make it. In all, it should be another great semester for students to see where their degree in Chemical Engineering can take them.
