Introduction:

Welcome all to the Principality of Antioch home page. We welcome everyone to learn about our club, and join us in our feast, demonstrations and workshops. If you go to NJIT or Rutgers Newark, we invite you to join the club.

What is the Principality of Antioch?

The Principality of Antioch is a chapter of Markland Medieval Mercenary Militia. Markland is medieval re-enactment organization devoted to researching and re-enacting the culture, fashion, and traditions of the Middle Ages, particularly from 600 AD to 1500 AD. The time period this chapter cover is 1080 - 1270, the period particularly known for the Crusades. If you wish to find out more about Markland, visit our About Markland page.

The name Principality of Antioch refers to one of the 4 kingdoms in the Middle East held by the Knights Templar, Hospitaler, and Tuetonic Knights, as well as a number of other monastic and secular knightly orders, during the Crusades. These knights were sworn to protect the Pilgrims on their journey to the Holy Land. If you want any more details about the real Principality of Antioch or the Crusades, visit our history page.

For a list of Events we will be hosting and going to in the near future, check out our events page.

How do I join?

Good question. If you are an NJIT undergraduate student, you can officially join, vote, and hold office. If you are not an NJIT student or you are an NJIT graduate student, you may still  join us and partake in our events and other Markland events we go to. Unfortunately, due to regulations by NJIT Student Senate, only undergraduate students at NJIT can vote or hold office in student organizations. If you wish to join, drop us a line at antioch@megahertz.njit.edu.
