Collaboration

Collaboration

Collaboration is an important aspect of today's corporate world, arguably the most important aspect. Products are developed and marketed via dynamic, geographically dispersed teams and meetings often span multiple time zones.

The ability to collaborate on a local and global scale is critical to a successful technical communications career. The following projects demonstrate my ability to join forces with other academic and professional team members to reach a common goal.

MS-PTC Editing Guide: As part of PTC 624 Professional and Technical Editing, the class collaborated on a Wiki-based MS-PTC Editing Guide. The guide provides editorial standards for a wide variety of topics, from copyediting and punctuation to editing quantitative material. I was one of three group leaders for the Spring 2009 semester; my team authored the Graphics chapter.

Visual Design Wiki: As part of PTC 605 Elements of Visual Design, the class collaborated on a Wiki site for the various elements of visual design. In addition to editing and contributing content to all pages in the Wiki, I authored the Unity page.

Microsoft Project Schedule (139KB MPP): Microsoft Project is a popular tool for project scheduling and tracking milestones. Project management and collaboration skills are valuable tools in the field of communications. This file is an example Gantt chart for project tracking that showcases my knowledge of scheduling and project management software.
