The History of Communication at Lukens Steel, 1810-1925

This richly-illustrated lecture series traces the development of technical and business communication at a single site over time - Lukens Steel, a specialty rolling mill, between the years 1810 and 1925. Analyzing the changes in documentation over time shows how literacy moved from being an optional skill to a necessary one. These videos are also available, in an expanded version, at iTunes U.
