Publishing - From Print to Online

As technology advances, the role of a documentation specialist changes. Couple this with an increased need for information and the nature of the profession has broadened.

When the focus of communication was via print media, a whole set of standards currently still in place existed. Some of these standards have been altered with the changes in printing technologies but for the most part, the guidelines remain the same.

Once online publications were made available, a completely new set of guidelines were introduced. The focal point was no longer a single document that read top to bottom and left to right. A multi dimensional organization style was also made available with endless possibilities.

The question still remains: How do you make the most of document design and encourage reuse?
