Setting up the RS232 Interface:

Using the HyperTerminal Program within Windows (or any other suitable program [such as National Instruments MAX program] which communicates over the serial ports), set-up the HyperTerminal for communications via the serial port to the HP Function Generator. Set up the Hyperterminal connection (and Instrument) for 9600 Baud, 8bit, no parity, 2 stop bits, for COM2 port. NOTE: the port might be different for your computer. From the HyperTerminal program verify that the HP function generator can be communicated with through the computer. As a test, try to set/ read current state of the Wave type (Sine, square, sawtooth, etc.).
