Yang Fan is a MS student in the Department of Chemistry. As his name "Yang" means "the sun" in Chinese, he loves to contribute his passion and energy to the team. He can be both a decisive leader and a good team-player. He has both book smarts and street smarts. He knows how to listen to people and how to communicate with them well. As a new student this semester, he is active and loves to take more responsibilities. He joined in the school's newspaper the Vector recently ,and right now he is working as one of the three executive editors for the NJIT 's first chinese newspaper sponsored by the CSSA. He does all of these things because he concerns for what is happening on campus and what the students need.
Before joining NJIT, he received his BS in Northwest University, China as an Outstanding Graduate.During his college years, he was captain of department basketball team, chairman of department debate team and a minister of the Student Union. He was the champion of his university's English Speaking Contest, the first ever winner who is from a science department. He once won a business contest and joined in a national broadcast reality show "Absolute Challenge", called the Chinese Apprentice. His favorite movie is "Into The Wild", he also loves traveling a lot. Before coming to the US , he traveled around some southeast-asia countries and worked as a voluntary teacher in Indonesia for two months.
As the chinese people always say "Serve the people whole-heartedly", Yang Fan believes that he can practice that in GSA for all the grad students.
