Event: New Jersey Institute of Technology - First General Body Meeting

First General Body Meeting of the Spring 2002 Semester. Members will have a chance to evaluate the activities of last semester and provide input on planning Spring Events. NTCC preparation will also be addressed.
 

 

 

Event: National Technical Career Conference 2002 (NTCC 2002)

Date: February 5, 2002 – February 9, 2002
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota

SHPE's National Technical and Career Conference is the largest technical conference in the nation, NTCC concentrates on engineering, math and science for Hispanics and is the premier event for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc. Providing education, technical, networking and career opportunities, the NTCC attracts thousands of Hispanic students, corporate representatives and community leaders from around the country.

 

Event: New Jersey Institute of Technology - Resume Workshop/Second General Meeting

At this meeting members will have an opportunity to get professional advice on how to polish up their resumes. With summer internship interviews right around the corner, we expect to see all of our members in attendance.
 

Event: New Jersey Institute of Technology - Luz Vega of Accenture/Third General Meeting

At this meeting members will have the opportunity to listen to words of wisdom and encouragement from former HOST/SHPE President and current employee of Accenture, Luz Vega. Luz Vega is one of our favorite presenters. With Women's History Month just days away, this presenter shines as a perfect example of a talented woman in the field of engineering.

Event: New Jersey Institute of Technology - Wilson Class/Fourth General Meeting

At this meeting, our members will have the opportunity to converse with the very distinguished Wilson Class. Wilson Class was a speaker at HAHENJ 2001 and it is truly and honor for us to have him in attendance. There will also be talk of the upcoming nominations for the HOST-SHPE 2002-2003 E-board. Are you equal to the task?

Event: New Jersey Institute of Technology - E-Board Nominations/Fifth General Meeting

It's that time of the year again, E-board nominations. At this meeting members will have a chance to nominate the individuals that they want to lead HOST-SHPE in the upcoming academic year. We are also celebrating the closing of Women's History Month with a collaborative meeting with the NJIT SWE Chapter (Society of Women Engineers).

Event: Region 4 Student Leadership Conference 2002 (RSLC 2002)

Date: April 5, 2002 – April 7, 2002
Location: University of Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico

The title of the conference is "Know your Role: It's time to perform". The title is calling to all of us, the future leaders, to know when it's our turn to lead the way in any situation and to give our best so that the project, any project in life, is a success. It also implies the value of teamwork. Not everyone can be a leader in every situation, but all of us can be a part of a team. We are already part of the team of Hispanic Engineers working for a better future. So it's up to us to perform, maybe even better, when we are part of a team and not necessarily in charge of it. The ability to adapt our leadership skills and put them into action performing at our best in every situation is what makes us great leaders.

The Annual HOST/SHPE Gala Banquet is the pride and joy of the HOST/SHPE Organization.  On the night of this treasured event; members, advisors, distinguished NJIT faculty, and successful members of our business community come out to celebrate the organization and it’s accomplishments throughout the year.  The Gala also doubles as an awards ceremony and an inaugural celebration for the new E-board members for the upcoming year.

Year in Review: The best and worst of HOST-SHPE 2001-2002. This meeting will give the members one last chance to give feedback on the semester's events and to welcome the new 2002-2003 HOST/SHPE E-board.
