Hi, my name is Jonathan Afonso, I'm 20 years old and I'm a third year student at NJIT. I am a Chemical Engineering major. I was born and raised here in New Jersey, and I recently moved to Mountainside, NJ. I am of Portuguese decent and I frequently visit Portugal. I have been going to Portugal at least once a year since I was born. My parents are from Minho in Portugal, so most of my family still lives there.
I work A&J Seabra’s Supermarket, a semi-major Portuguese Supermarket Company that own several supermarkets and restaurants in and in neighboring cities from Newark. I am fluent in Portuguese, and thanks to my co-workers and customers, I am reasonable in Spanish as well.
When I’m not at school or working, which is a rare and valuable time, I am either hanging out with my friends or playing online games with them. My friends and I are big fans of fast cars and street racing. Each one of us has a nice car and we usually either go to car enthusiast gatherings or just race one another. My friend’s cars consist of a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, a 2002 Camaro SS, and a lot of Hondas, and if you grew up here in Newark, you’ll know that Hondas are not to be taken lightly. I drive a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. If you park in the parking deck you’ll probably see my car up on the seventh floor or the roof.
My Goal's:
My goal in life right now is simple; I just want to finish school. I am not in any rush and I don’t plan on finishing in four years, but I want to finish without any stress and do well. I have no clue where my future in Chemical Engineering will be, but I always wanted it to be in the automotive industry. Once I graduate, I plan on either finding a job here, or I’ll move to Florida and hopefully find a job there.
