 Contents: A study of soil types and properties is made with the objective of developing a basic understanding of engineering behavior of soils.  Fundamentals pertaining to compaction, permeability, seepage, consolidation, and shear strength are presented. The methods of subsurface investigation are introduced.

Prerequisite:  Mech. 237 or equivalent.  Co-requisite: CE 341A.

bulletMake sure that you have setup your e-mail account for pipeline. I will be communicating with you via pipeline.
bulletAlways bring your textbook, a calculator, and writing paper in the class.
bulletPlease, keep all your work until you have received your final grade.
bulletUse quad paper for homework.  Other paper will earn you a zero for that assignment. All work sheets must be stapled on the upper left corner.
bulletAll work must be done neatly in a professional manner.
bulletIf you have questions please see TA or or your Professor.  Use e-mail if it is more convenient.
bulletNo makeup Examination will be given. One quiz will be dropped.
bulletAt the beginning of quiz you will be asked to submit one of the home work from that period. It will be graded (10pts) and added to the quiz grade
