Title:
MISQ Special Issue

Abstract:
This is an ethnographic account of Electricity Supply CompanyÆs Power Control Center, with a focus on the use of Information Technology and Management Information Systems. We provide an in-depth description of the inner workings of the Power Control Center. In the discussion section we develop, using the grounded theory approach, several themes including the inter-dependency of the organizational personnel, procedures, and MIS. We observe that the organization became both automated and informated to conduct the work, and that the MIS is abandoned in times of crisis. In the conclusion we present two conceptsùdisinformating and knowledge-augmentation that are derived from this study.
