Design Challenge

Company Name: InfoSec Technologies Inc. – I chose this name because it contains all of the keywords that someone may be looking for from a security company. From the research I have done, companies often have simple names that convey the point, such as Core Security or Security Works. By starting my company name with “InfoSec” I alert most people to the fact that my company deals in Information Security, rather than general security. By using “Technologies” after that it gives the company a feel of being advanced.

Concentration: Information Security

Research: From looking at various websites of other Information Security websites, the design is typically simple and the word “Security” is plastered in big bold letters on the website. This makes me think that customers are often looking for a solution that is easy to use, and will get the job done. Unlike other products, information security firms often don’t need to run a marketing blitz for their products, as they will never be the latest rage or trend. Rather, they just have to show that they are there, they are going to get the job done, and they are going to do it in a way that is as easy as possible for everyone.

Design Concept: The intended customer for this particular company is anyone who needs information security solutions in some way. These customers typically are looking for a company that is going to provide products that are: reliable, efficient, and constantly being updated to deal with the latest threats. I would like to convey to the customer that our products are a shield of sorts, keeping back the hordes of enemy hackers across the world.

Audience: The intended audience for this company is anyone looking to security their PC or Network in some way. This may be a home user who needs a virus scanner or pop-up blocker, or a network administrator in a major corporation who needs an expansive network security auditing solution.

Font: Lucida Console – I selected this font because it is the same font used in an MS-DOS command prompt window. When a lot of people think of people hacking their networks and performing other illegal PC activity, they typically associate it with a hacker sitting behind a PC using command line and uploading a virus to their machine.

Color: Red and Yellow. Often times when someone’s PC has a virus or there is something wrong with it, they will receive either a red or yellow warning symbol. Since people associate these colors with something going wrong with their system, these colors would remind them of it when they are looking to purchase a product to defend against it.
