Stopped at the red light
Fixated on black pavement
Containing shattered glass, ground deep
I see the stars I've missed

It's not the heavy light pollution
Keeping me from clear skies
I'm suburban and spared that
I've got something upon which to wish

Glitz against the city grey
Sparkles against the black
Simple beauty left behind
Created by a tragedy

The stars come out at night
Hollywood at a stone's throw
Crowds light up with flashbulbs
They miss what I do

It's not just your starry smile
I see at night through closed eyes
A Polaroid develops
Your smile just for me
