List PR
Most
of the seventy-five Proportional Representation (PR) systems identified
use some form of List PR; only nine examples use MMP or
Single-Transferable Vote (STV) methods.
In
its simplest form, List PR involves each party presenting a list of
candidates to the electorate, voters voting for a party, and parties
receiving seats in proportion to their overall share of the national vote.
Winning candidates are taken from the lists in order of their position on
the lists.
