SIU CNN: Special Investigations Unit

CNN has slated at least five long-form specials for the first half of 2006, some for its CNN Presents documentary series, and others for a new franchise called CNN: Special Investigations Unit.

CNN: Special Investigations Unit" is a new long-form investigative series, airing Saturdays and Sundays at 8 p.m. ET, that will feature CNN's top correspondents delivering in-depth hours on pressing issues currently in the news.

SIU taps into the network's worldwide resources and journalists, including Christiane Amanpour, Anderson Cooper and Soledad O'Brien, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, John Roberts, John King, Candy Crowley, Drew Griffin and others to offer a strong brand of enterprise investigative reports.

Soledad guested on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. She took some good-hearted teasing from Jon because she has long been the subject of on-air adoration from fellow Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert.

Winners Who Use Their Fame To Help Others

Soledad was featured on the June Newsweek cover (to the right of Brad Pitt) and inside in an article,“15 Winners Who Use Their Fame, Fortune, Heart and Soul to Help Others.”

As an anchor on CNN's American Morning, the magazine said she showed an "inner rage" while reporting on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. O’Brien was lauded for reporting the on- and off-camera reactions to the government’s response to the last Fall’s hurricane Katrina.

O’Brien was the first reporter to outright challenge then FEMA director Michael Brown about the human suffering that occurred in New Orleans following the storm.

Show #5102 ( November 14, 2006) was Celebrity Jeopardy! game five from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

The contestants were Harry Shearer, an actor/writer/producer from The Simpsons& radio's Le Show, Isaac Mizrahi, a fashion designer from the Style Network, and Soledad O'Brien.

Soledad was edged out of first place by clever Harry, but still won $25,000 for her two charitis: Hearts of Gold and Christ Church on Quaker Hill in NY.

Soledad has also been a guest video question and the topic of a question on the show.
