Lab news…

  • August: Gareth taught at an Advanced Study Institute in South Africa on the topic of Mathematical Conservation Biology.
  • August: Jessica, Sarah and Tanya presented at ESA in Pittsburgh.
  • June: Congratulations to Tanya on passing her qualifying exam!
  • Sarah has now discovered two new-to-the-US bee genera at Liberty State Park and the NJ Meadlowlands. She was featured in an article in the Bergen County Examiner.

Research grants, etc.

  • New research grant award to GJR: Understanding the Dynamic Connections Among Stewardship, Land Cover, and Ecosystem Services in New York City's Urban Forest. From NSF.
  • New research grant award to GJR: Climate change and Species Ranges — Southwest USA. This award will fund Jessica for the 2009–2010 academic year.
  • New research grant award to GJR: Group Undergraduate Biology and Mathematics Training Program at NJIT. This is an extension of the award which has brought some talented undergraduates into the lab (such as Abraham Rosales — see "Recently published" below).
