CATALOG DESCRIPTION
A “capstone” project course requiring a formal written report and oral
presentation.
COURSE PREREQUISITES: Senior standing
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Develop the ability of students to be able to apply various analytical and
technical skills that they have learnt in the engineering technology program
for solving a real world problem. The requirements of a final project
report and an oral presentation are aimed to improve students' effectiveness of the technical
communication skill.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Because of the small class size, the professor will meet the students weekly on a prescheduled time
in his office (GITC 2517). You are requested to
contact the professor ASAP to setup this weekly meeting schedule. During
this hour, the professor will receive weekly progress
report from you and will guide you on your project work. A tentative
course schedule and the important deadlines for this course
are given below. Besides meeting with professor, you are expected to work on
your own on library work, field data collection, experimentation, writing
project report, and/or manufacturing of parts as needed for the project.
Every week you should expect to spend about three to four hours in these
activities to complete your project satisfactorily.
The project can be performed by team of maximum two students. A student team, according to their common interest, must choose a relevant topic, which should address a manufacturing and/or design related problem in a production or service industry. Those students, who work in industry, may choose a manufacturing problem relevant to their work. Others may choose any current problem related to the field of manufacturing, which is of interest to them.
