My Biography: I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from NJIT, my MBA in Management of Technology specializing in Information Systems and E-Commerce Management, and I am working toward my PhD in the area of Information Systems. My research interests include many different facets of information systems, such as text mining and information retrieval, group decision support systems, user interface design, virtual teams with member interactions, massively multiplayer online games, computer supported collaborative work, human computer interaction, and using information technology to increase corporate profitability. I am carrying out my thesis research in the area of personalized text mining, which includes an aspect of background profiling into finding relevant information in a document collection. Research: My current area of research is in the area of personalized text mining. I am trying to develop a system for my thesis that involves using text mining methods to find documents that users will find novel, interesting, and relevant. I am also working on other research projects that involve the integration of digital libraries and allowing for greater access to information. One of my major research projects involves developing a general recommendation engine that integrates 3 different technologies into one interface. Please see my research statement for more information. Teaching: I have taught classes in the field of Information Systems at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Feedback from students as to my teaching style and course content has been very positive. I have developed courses from scratch and some of my work and preparation is being used in future courses that are being developed. I try to cover all material that is relevant to the course while maintaining a fun learning atmosphere. I do believe in using group and in class assignments to help my students learn material versus a straight lecture environment. I try to make myself available as much as possible to my students to aid them in any questions or problems that may arise. I believe in teaching my students information that is necessary for their future work life. My teaching interests are in the area of Information Systems and Computer Science related courses. Please see my teaching statement for more information. |
