IntegraL

This project seeks to integrate specific resources of many different academic libraries as well as the National Science Digital Library.  Some of the partners include the ACM Digital Library, Digital Library for Earth Science Education (DLESE), Elsevier Science Direct (permission pending), Science@NASA, NJIT Electronic Thesis collection, NSDL Core Integration features, JerseyClicks (an on-line bookstore), and StartingPoint.  This project will hopefully be integrated with the GRE project in order to generate recommendations to users based on the information contained within these digital libraries.  Please click on the website above for more information about this exciting project.

General Recommendation Engine (GRE)

This is a project sponsored by the National Science Foundation's National Science Digital Library program.  The purpose of this project is to develop a general recommendation engine that will integrate three dominant technologies (content based, collaborative filtering, and knowledge based) that will be able to interface with any NSDL library.  We would also like to find out if providing recommendations to users affects their search behavior, how the use of a recommendation engine can affect users over the longer term, how to modify the recommendation engine to better fit into the context of the user search.  The partners on this project include the Digital Library for Earth Science Education (DLESE), Digital Library Collection for Computer Vision Education (Swarthmore College), EconPort Digital Library for Microeconomics Education (University of Arizona), Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education, NJIT IS Department, and the  NJIT Van Houten Library.  The ultimate goal of this project is to create a plug and play type of interface that any digital library can use to provide recommendations for their users.  Please visit the above website above to find out more information about this project.
