NJIT People:
How to Set Up a Counter in Your Web Page
If you are a student, faculty, staff, or alumni of NJIT, click
this to see how to use the University's official
counter.
We're sorry, you cannot use this counter host in your Web page(s)
if you are not associated with New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Non-NJIT People:
How to Set Up a Counter in Your Web Page
One way that you can get access to NJIT's counter is to
enroll for courses. We even have distance and continuing education programs.
Beyond joining the institute, the following resources are available to you:
Please let me know if you know of other public counters, and I'll put 'em on
this list.
Your Own Counter Site
In most cases there are two parts to having a counter on your page. One part
is the HTML you add to your web pages that asks a host computer to do the
counting for you. The second part (which is already done for all NJIT people)
is setting up the host that does the actual counting for other people.
You can set up your own counter host and so not have to depend on
anybody if you have a Unix or Windows NT system at your disposal, and
provided you're at least slightly more than a novice administrator. For
UNIX systems (including Linux), NT and OS/2, see
Muhammad Muquit's counter.
Sorry, I don't know of versions running under DOS,
Apple, or any others.
