3. Some Images

3.1a Unbelievable as it seems, the lines are parallel

3.1b From this, the mind creates a 3D cube

3.1c A combination of color contrast plus animation really gets attention

3.2

3.3 Contrast

3.4 Colors and shape

Highlites - colour changes, like animation, get a lot of attention.

3.5

Simple layout and background - no information overload here. The focus is clear - the search box input frame. Enough color to occupy. Buttons to extra options. Note how it interacts when you click search - the search info comes up, but the old header and search box remain.

Here is a very colorful site with lots of space between the sections. It has a good character search because it understands that the main reason many people come is to find our more about their favorite character. Each character has a typical picture (e.g. spiderman, so it would be better to link by pictures).

3.7 This is a very light background - look closely

A simple background. The dots are complex but it is easily processed.

3.8

A tesselated background.

3.9

This could be a background. The water recedes into the distance - why? We deduce it from the perspective lines and texture gradients.

3.10

Can be a thumbnail also. (2kb vs 6.6kb)

3.11

Notice how the background gives a feel of some cloth material.

3.12

This looks like marble.

3.8

A good example of how relatively simple color can be effective. Notice color gradients, and that clouds are natural; also the sense of depth creadted by blurring and shading.

3.9
Here are two attention getters. Notice how one can become very distracting.

3.11

Color blind people lack blue cone cells, so green or blue look the same to them.

3.12

This M will not be easily distinguished by a color blind person.

3.13.

Here is an example of a few simple bright colors, each relatively pure, used to create a certain effect, yet still using saturation gradient to give the distance effect. Notice the close up leaves overlapping.
