The Business Meeting of WG 8.3 on Implementing Systems for Supporting Management Decisions has to elect its new Vice Chair and Secretary. Patrick Humphreys nominated two candidates, Andrew McCosh and Henry Sroka for the Vice Chair position putting stress on the continuation of the former East-West collaboration in the field. In the discussion which followed his propositions it became clear that there is no need to increase the number of officers. Accordingly Andrew McCosh was elected as Vice Chair and Zita Paprika will follow Anna Vari in the secretary's position.
According to the IFIP rules someone's working group membership lapses if a member fails to participate in some agreed number of events, usually three consecutive events. Applying this rule George Widmeyer will update the membership list and will circulate it through the Internet.
It was reported by Dina Berkeley, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee that 71 members have attended to the conference, from whom 59 paid his/her conference fee. One third belonged to the students' doctoral consortium, one third registered before the deadline and one third was the ratio of the late registrations.
Most of the participants chose accomodation in the LSE's Bankside Residence which has been recently acquired and is specifically devoted to catering for LSE visitors. Since the conference participants were among the first visitors various small problems caused difficulties, but in general everybody was satisfied with the place.
The members thanked Dina Berkeley for her efforts in organising the event so fluently.
As it is well-known after a number of years with Elsevier, IFIP had changed its publishers to Chapman and Hall. This is the right place to mention that Chapman and Hall published the conference book on time and in very good quality. Because of this change the proceedings of the former conference in San Sebastian was not published for wider circulation, but printed by the Basque Region University.
On the base of the successful cooperation between the editors of the recent proceedings and the Chapman and Hall they offered an opportunity to re-publish the proceedings from San Sebastian. As Patrick Humphreys reported roughly 50% of the revised papers and one or two invited papers could be incorporated in that new publication. The Universidad de la Laguna is interested to organise a task force devoted to the organisational transformation which was the topic of the San Sebastian Conference. This invitation can determine the following deadlines:
Revised papers ready ---15th december 1996
Book to printers ---15th January 1997
Date of conference (Tenerife) --- 25-26th March 1997
It is advisable to invite no more than 20 participants.
Various venues and topics were considered, included United States, Poland and Slovenia, but after a further discussion everybody accepted Vlado Rajkovic's proposal that the next 1988 regular working conference should be held in Slovenia, Bled which is a tiny hilly village not far from Ljubljana. George Widmeyer's suggestion concerning the conference topic was also accepted and the temporary working title "Context of DSS" was confirmed. The outcome of this planning process is presented here:
Theme: Context of DSSVenue: Bled, Slovenia

As a closing remark Andrew McCosh stated that Patrick Humphreys made a great job in editing the conference book. (Applause.)
The meeting closed at 5:30 pm.
