Abstract
Problems with moving contact lines are abundant in our daily life and in engineering applications. An example is a liquid drop in contact with a solid substrate that is driven by an applied electric field, a pressure gradient, or a surfactant re-distribution. In this talk, we will discuss several approaches to solve these types of problems, based on the Hele-Shaw and Navier-Stokes equations. Some of this work was done jointly with M.-C. Lai, Y.-H. Tseng, D. He, and Y. Tan.
