Net2Phone, Inc. is sponsoring a contest for computing students to develop web applications that interoperate with Net2Phone's new initiative, PICUP – The Personal Internet Communications Unification Project. PICUP's goal is to make it easier to reach out and be reached. Through PICUP, users will be able to connect with their contacts by dialing only once, while maintaining a dynamic, unified contact list that will be available to all PICUP enabled tools and applications. "Code It Own It '08" will accept entries through the semester, with a deadline of June 30, 2008. Contestants will be asked to create web communications applications using the PICUP infrastructure, with the objective of expanding the range of interoperating tools and services available to PICUP users. Students may work alone or in groups; they will retain all rights to their work, and will be eligible for awards totaling up to $50,000 in cash and prizes. Interested students should visit www.picup.com/contest for more information.
