Alan S. Rosenthal

Abstract

This presentation discusses the career paths available to computing graduates entering the market in 2011. The speaker draws a parallel between his own engineering career and presents the similarities in challenges and opportunities that will exist for computing professionals even though the technologies are vastly different. Using examples from his own career, the speaker will show how circumstances may force changes in career plans. Most importantly, he hopes that his personal illustrations will provide some guidance to computing professionals beginning their own careers at a difficult time in the economic cycle.
