Parallel Real-Time Scheduling from Theory to Implementation

Abstract

Real-time systems need to provide strong timing guarantees for applications in cyber-physical systems that interact with humans and/or the physical environment. Examples span from autonomous vehicles, avionic systems, robotics to hybrid simulation systems in earthquake engineering. However, as parallel machines are becoming ubiquitous, we face new challenges in designing, analyzing and implementing real-time systems that can fully utilize the efficiencies of parallel computing platforms. This talk will present some of our advances in exploiting the internal parallelism of real-time applications and the untapped efficiencies in the parallel platforms to drastically improve the scalability and guarantees for real-time systems.
