Joint Analysis of Biological Networks and Expression Data

Abstract

Oligonucleotide and cDNA microarrays can simultaneously measure the expression of thousands of genes. This high-throughput technique can be used potentially to infer networks from the regulatory interactions between genes, and to investigate the mechanisms by which a drug, disease, mutation and environmental condition affects gene expression and cell function. The talk will provide information about the fundamentals of gene expression, biological pathways, standard microarray analysis and the current attempts to infer the molecular pathways based on microarray results.
