The National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo: Main research activities and International Cooperation Policy

Abstract

The National Institute of Informatics in Tokyo is the only academic research institute for Informatics or IT in Japan. Its activities deal with - basic information research developed in 4 Research Divisions - service operation of academic information infrastructure (academic networks and contents) - human resource development including education for graduate students - university-industry cooperation - International strategy After a general presentation of the research activities in the four Divisions NII policy for International cooperation will be described ,in particular the "NII International Internship" to receive postgraduate students for a short period 2-6 months with financial support will be described.
