Bio

Valérie Gouet-Brunet obtained her PhD in Computer Science (Image Processing) in 2000 from the University of Montpellier II in France. During her postdoc at INRIA (2000-2002), she studied image descriptors for content-based object retrieval in databases of images. Since September 2002, she is assistant professor at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM) of Paris and is doing research in the Laboratory in Computer Science of CNAM (CEDRIC). She is also associate researcher in the Imedia research group at INRIA since 2002, and member of the national group Wisdom (federation of 3 Parisian research groups, 2007-2010) with French labs LAMSADE of Paris-Dauphine University and LIP6 of Paris-6 University. Her area of research concerns indexing and retrieval by content in large collections of images and videos. She focuses on the development of local image/video descriptors as well as on multidimensional index structures to accelerate search in the associated feature spaces. She works with industrial partners and is involved in French and European projects on image/object retrieval in large collections of images, object recognition for visual surveillance and content-based video copy detection.
