Bio

X. Sheldon Wang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at NJIT. He received his B.S. in Applied Mechanics and Computational Mathematics in 1988 from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Prof. Wang received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Mechanics from MIT in 1993 and 1995. Subsequently, he has worked in the Institute of Paper Science and Technology and Polytechnic University as a faculty member before joining NJIT this semester. In 2002, Prof. Wang was selected by Polytechnic University as one of the five Othmer Junior Faculty Fellows. His research interests include quantitative modeling of biological systems, computational mechanics, and dynamical systems. Prof. Wang is the author of about 30 journal papers. He is currently an associate editor of Computers & Structures and serves in scientific advisory boards of a number of international conferences on computational mechanics.
