Master Project Guidelines

If you are interested in pursuing a Master's Project under my guidance you need to plan early enough. I only accept students who have worked previously with me (e.g. students who have taken or are currently taking graduate level courses, and preferably non introductory ones with me) and thus know my mode of operation and interests. If you are not such a student, I would advise that you talk to someone else.

If you are such a student, plan early. Contact me very early in the semester (eg. for spring projects in the first 10 days of september, and for fall projects in the last 10 days of january). I don't supervise projects during the summer as i am also traveling and the summer term is too short for a project. If you contact me one or two weeks before the deadline, you will not get a response at all.

I only advise project topics related to what i teach and to what my research interests relate. So if you want to develop an on-line music/cd/video/dvd store, you are wasting my time and your time.

Summary of prerequisites. Both must be satisfied.

  1. Course Taking You have already taken a non-elementary course with me.
  2. Time If you decide to take up a project in a fall semester, you must talk with me in late January of the spring semester before it. If in Spring, you must talk with me in early September. If you come to me in February/March/April then Spring the following year is the only acceptable timeframe for a project. If you come to me in late Sep/October/November then Fall the following year is acceptable.
