- EXAM 1
is CLOSED EVERYTHING. The FORMULA SHEET IS NOT ALLOWED; IT CAN ONLY
OBE USED IN THE MIDTERM (EXAM 2) AND THE FINAL (EXAM 3) BUT NOT IN EXAM 1. OTHER THAN THAT,
EXAM 1 will be based on HW 0,1,2 only.
- Exam 1(Quiz, Tue Feb 15) Part of PA 2 was out of sync with the topics covered
in class so far. It is now due the day PA3 is also due, i.e. March 1.
- PA 2 Extension Part of PA 2 was out of sync with the topics covered
in class so far. It is now due the day PA3 is also due, i.e. March 1.
- Solutions HW 1 solutions have been uploaded, HW2 Solutions to
be uploaded soon (Wed 2/9).
- Homework 2, Problem (4b) The second to last function has an exponent
that is lglgn. This is lg(lg(n)), i.e. the logarithm of the logarithm of n.
For example, lglg(16)=lg(lg(16))=lg(4)=2, and lglg(65536)=lg(16)=4.
- Recurrences-Asymptotic notation Handout 6 has additional information, solved
examples, and sample problems.
- HW0 Solutions posted on Wed Feb 2, 2005.
- HW0,Problem 2 (a) typoThe homework asks you the bits required for the minimal
representation of all integers between 128 and 256. The 256 is a typo. It was meant
to be 255.
- Computer Viruses and Email Problems As you might have noticed,
the University is experiencing various problems with waves of suspicious
email messages due to viruses.
