Dear All, Topic: Exam1-Gerbessiotis but also (hopefully) Exam2-Gerbessiotis 0. Accommodation requests through OARS or the Dean of Students, must be received before end of day (5:30pm) of Mon 27 Sep 2021. Then a paper exam would be generated. 1. Otherwise you are expected to show up in the classroom at the designated time. 2. Read Document 3 (available in Canvas Announcements). 3. In the exam room the only allowable items or things not allowed are (a) The laptop you are planning to use for the exam with energy to last for at least 80minutes after the exam becomes DOABLE. (b) a physical calculator, compatible with MATH classes. (c) the only app in the laptop that should be active is the browser and its only window connected to canvas.njit.edu. If more than this window, or more than this browser or other apps are detected active your exam gets immediately a zero and Syllabus applies. (This includes the use of a calculator app.) (d) No food, no drinks in the exam room. Put them inside your backpack/bag. (e) No OTHER items on the table or floating around. All in your backpack/bag. (f) Mobile phone/Mobile devices other than the designated laptop must be powered down not just silenced. Powered down means/is equivalent to the battery is completely removed. MOREOVER YOUR PHONE/DEVICE MUST BE IN A BACKPACK/BAG, NOT ON YOU. (g) Mobile devices above includes smart watches and hearing aids of any type. If there is a medical reason an accommodation request must reach us per paragraph 0. ***************************************************************** The rest of this email should be familiar from Doc 0, Doc 3 ***************************************************************** 4. The exam link will be published in canvas early on Monday. The exam link is ***visible*** . The exam link is ***clickable***. The Exam is NOT ***viewable*** yet. The Exam is NOT ***doable *** yet. (If you click on the link you might get an authentication error.) 5. The Exam will be ***viewable*** and ***doable *** (a) after Available-From time (canvas setting) has been reached, and (b) after you enter the classroom, you power on your laptop, you use the browser to connect to canvas, click on the exam in Quizzes in canvas and you type in the password given to you by the instructor (it will be written twice around the projector screen at the start of the class) Exam time starts then (completion of step (b) usually within 5 minutes of the start of class) and a countdown is visible in the canvas quiz/exam area (at the top of a possibly scrollable page). 6. From that point on, the exam completes in one of three possible ways, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST, and as long as any credentials of yours do not expire (this is based on info communicated by IST), (i) YOU press a SUBMIT button in canvas and submit your answers, [YOU HAVE ONLY ONE SUBMIT OPPORTUNITY] (ii) the canvas COUNTDOWN has reached 0 (time limit expiration), (iii) AVAILABLE-UNTIL event has been triggered (and exam ceases to be available). Based on Canvas behavior communicated to me by IST, in cases (ii) and (iii) canvas ordinarily autosubmits. In case (i) you initiate a SUBMIT event. If your myUCID password expires sometime during the exam or after a prior NJIT authentication, Canvas MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AUTOSUBMIT.
