( 4/11) Final Exam, exam departure policy,
and last office hours
Note that the final exam room (time and date) is determined by
the Registrar and its time and/or day the time is USUALLY not
the time or day of the class.
After the first hour has elapsed you are allowed to leave
the exam room between 60min and 105min after the start of
the exam taking.
Thus you are not allowed to leave the room early in the exam,
nor in the last fifteen minutes and also as soon as the number of
students present in the exam room reaches just three (3).
In all other cases, between 60min and 105min after the start of
the exam taking, just raise your hand silently to draw my attention.
If you leave before the 60th minute
you will be reported to the Dean of Students,
and your final exam will be assessed to a grade of 0.
At most three signatures will be collected during the exam:
(a) on the exam paper,
(b) during the exam (receipt signature) in the exam roster
handed out 15 minutes from the start, and
(c) in the case of early departure (turnin signature), in the exam
roster again when you turn in the paper exam.
Note that the last office hours are
for May 1, 2022. (There are no office hours during
the reading days or the exam period.)
-
( 4/11) Final Exam Paper inspection
You may inspect the paper final exam on
Wednesday 10 May from 11am to 12pm (noon time).
Be ready to provide the exam number, last four digits of
your NJIT ID and last and first names.
There might be a time limit of 2 minutes per student if
there is a wait queue outside my office to accommodate as
many students as possible; otherwise first come first reviewed.
-
(4/11) Final Exam Numeric grade
There will be two ways for you
to find out the final exam numeric grade:
(a) See item above OR show up in the Fall Semester (2023)
office hours, during the first four weeks of classes,
but no photos or captures of the exam paper(s) are allowed,
OR
(b) send an email from your NJIT email account
to the course email address (and only it and not to ME)
with your Exam number and the last four digits of your NJIT ID.
You will receive an email back describing your numeric grade in
terms of other Exam grades or Homework grades.

Final Exam info as set by the Registrar
The final exam
based on the link, as of 11 April 2023 at 09:03,
is set for
Monday 8 May, starting at 08:30am at GITC 1100.
(provisional, might change, check Registrar link frequently).
The material to be covered is
Subjects 0 through and (inclusive of) Subject 13.
Subject 1 through Subject 12 map to Chapters
1-12 of the designated textbook but not directly
(e.g. Subject 5 draws from Chapter 9).
Subject 13 maps to Chapter 15.
Subject material SUPPLEMENTS the textbook,
IT DOES NOT REPLACE THE TEXTBOOK.
Parts of Subject 13 covered in Subject 10 already
(eg permissions) may appear in the exam.
The other material of Subject 13
not previously covered will not appear in the exam.
No questions from Subject 11 (Chapter 5) and
Subject 12 (Chapter 6)
in the exam if the material for such a question was
covered/reviewed only in the last week of classes.
Also note that the Subjects have additional material not
covered in the textbook at all or only covered in the
textbook in less detail (eg fork()).
Read the textbook first, then in a second review,
check the subjects for material that was missed.
Homeworks and self-assessments may be used for
practice.

(4/11) Final Exam rules and Final Exam Device policy
The exam rules are otherwise those of Exam 2 and Exam 1 with the
device policy adjusted to reflect a paper exam. See
also section C of the course web-page.
Your canvas device will not
participate in a paper exam and thus if you bring it
by accident it should be powered down and
inside your zippered backpack or bag along with other
mobile or not devices including phone, tablets, computers,
watches, headphones, etc.
-
(4/11) Seating arrangements
They will be posted in Canvas/Announcements.
They will also be made available in Section C of the course web-page.
