C0. Emergency Info and Exam Instructions

Updated Canvas documents will be made available in this section. Originals appear in Canvas/Announcements or Canvas/Modules. Canvas has synchronization issues, so a document posted in Canvas will never be updated. If NJIT declares an emergency an in class exam might become an online exam. In that contingency the online exam would be in Canvas using proctoring from ProctorU Record+ (previously known as ProctorU Review+). This is different from ProctorU Live+ that requires to book an appointment (with a live proctor) with ProctorU. Hopefully things will move smoothly and there would be no emergency! This explains the ProctorU related links below.

  1. Fall 2023 and onwards information ProctorU Record+ and Guardian browser. Uploaded 01/06 . Effective Fall 2023, ProctorU Record+ requires the use of the Guardian browser. Read this link carefully. Canvas access might be needed (i.e. myUCID authorization).
  2. Guardian Browser download. Uploaded 01/06 . Alternative way to download the Guardian browser (also embedded in the text of the previous NJIT related URL).
  3. NJIT's ProctorU Record+ Overview . Uploaded 01/06 . This link is old and might have been overtaken by the previous one. It is left here for your convenience. Canvas access is needed (i.e. myUCID credentials are to be provided to access this link). Students can also go there through the Canvas orientation for Students panel and scroll down to the appropriate section. Note that Record+ was previously known as Review+. Canvas access is needed (i.e. myUCID authorization).
  4. NJIT's Practice Exam using ProctorU Record+. Uploaded 01/06 . If you go to the canvas orientation for students (and i only have access to a canvas orientation for faculty, so things might not be identical), the ProctorU Record+ section has a subsection called "Is there a cost for ProctorU Record+?". In it you may find two links. The URL above in this item points to the first of the two links there. You can take it for free as many times as you like. Canvas access is needed (i.e. myUCID authorization).
  5. Test out your equipment. Uploaded 01/06 .
  6. Additional information for Test Takers (students). Uploaded 01/06 .
  7. Exam 1 and Exam 2 default procedure information . Uploaded 01/06 .
  8. Exam 1 instructions . Uploaded 01/06 .
  9. Exam 2 instructions . Slight modification of Exam 1 instructions. Uploaded 01/06 .
  10. Exam 3 instructions . Those of Exam 2. Uploaded 01/06 .

C1. Midterm Performance and Exam Arrangements

Information will be made available in Canvas this semester. Links below will not be updated.

C2. Homeworks, Exams and Solutions

Self-assessments are in Canvas Quizzes only including correct answers. Homeworks are located in Canvas Quizzes. Exams are ordinarily handed out in the exam room (which is the classroom for Exam 1 and Exam 2). A solution key for a HW and an Exam will appear through the link(s) below, in the feedback you will receive in canvas, as well as in Canvas Announcements.

C4. Statistics

Information will be made available in Canvas this semester. Link(s) below might or might not be updated.

C5. Previous Exams

Note. Note that material covered in class changes from semester to semester; new material is being introduced as needed, and some other material may be deemphasized or order of presentation changed. The location of an exam in syllabus might change as well. A three hour class has different number of exams and exams from an 80-minute class The material below is provided as is: we do not discuss solutions nor do we provide clarifications nor confirm or not proposed solutions. They are provided to show the structure of a typical exam in some prior semester. You may practice on it to assess coverage of material. It is also possible that some problems have become HW problems in later semesters. Note that a solution key is for multiple exams given. Isolate the solutions for the problems specified in the sample exam. From semester to semester terminology might change or get refined.

No sample final solutions. Consult homework problems, self-assessment questions, and exam1 and exam2 problems.

C6. Lecture Summaries (also known as Subjects)

DISCLAIMER: The included material DOES NOT substitute the textbook for this class. It is copyrighted material and therefore treat it carefully and lawfully. It should be used in conjunction with the textbook and the material presented in class. If a statement in these "notes" seems to be incorrect, report it to the instructor so that it be fixed immediately. These "notes" are distributed to the students of CS332 offered by Dr. Gerbessiotis at the New Jersey Institute of Technology; distribution outside this group of students is prohibited. Otherwise whatever appears by clicking the corresponding link might be incomplete or incorrect.

Note that copies of these subjects listed below have been made available in Canvas Modules (e.g. the pdf of subject 5 is in canvas module Subject 5). However, the canvas module copies WILL NOT be updated further; the uptodate or corrected version of a subject will only be accessible through section C.6, i.e. this area. Synchronization in canvas is tricky to be reliable when it involves updates.
