Past Announcements for Fall 2024
-
(11/12) Typo Subject 8
On Slide 37, Example 3, a "Page Table of slide 30".
It should have said "Page Table of slide 36", which is
the previous page!
Of course there is a copy of this slide in slide 40
as well: including a repetition of the typo!
Slide 52 a "Memory Access Rate" should have been
a "Memory Access Time" since we are talking about ns of
performance.
-
(11/07) Final Exam information has
become available
See link below (Final exam info for Fall 2024).
-
(11/07) Exam 2 grading
The exam 2 grading will conclude by 2pm today.
Grades will be made available through the canvas
quiz "Exam 2 grade through this template quiz"
whose availability ceases at 5pm today 11/7.
Grades will then be inserted between 5pm today
and 11am tomorrow morning.
Exam 2 statistics and Midterm Class performance would
become available in Section C and Canvas Announcements no
later than 5pm today.
Midterm class performance would be based on
Ex1-2,HW1-2, SA 0-6
(rounded up individual decimal scores) and
597pt maximum.
-
(11/06) SA-5 and SA-6 released
For a two-week period (starting at 12:30pm canvas time) those of
you who submitted once can see their answers,
and the correct answers in canvas. Previously this was possible only
to those of you who had submitted 10 times.
-
(11/05) Seating Arrangements and ID for Exam 2
The seating arrangements have been updated to reflect the
missing chairs of row 3 and a typo of the original.
Note that three of YOU did not present an ID during Exam 1
and one week after EXAM 1 taking as instructed. If you want your
EXAM 1 and EXAM 2 grade be incorporated in your class points YOU MUST
present an ID tomorrow for EXAM 2.
Make sure you also write on your exam paper the last four digits
of your NJIT ID (usually they are NOT the same as the ones on
your library card).
-
(10/31) HW2 graded and available
HW2 has been graded. The solution key is available
in both Section C below and also in Canvas/Announcements.
The HW2 has become available for 2 weeks starting 1pm today.
-
(10/24) Exam 2 grade dissemination
Exam 2 is on Nov 6, yet the withdrawal deadline is
Nov 11 and the exam will be returned on Nov 13.
I prepared a template 'sort of a quiz' in canvas. If you
submit it in the period Nov 5 - 5pm of Nov7 you submission will
enable me to insert your grade into that quiz.
Thus you will know your grade around Nov 8 before
the withdrawal deadline of Nov 11. Check canvas/Quizzes for
more detailed info.
-
(10/23) Exam 2 warning 1
The exam is in two weeks from today (10/23).
It is 60min 250pt; same setup as exam 1.
Topics to be covered map to Subjects 3,4,5 and 6
and thus Chapters 3,4,9 and 10 of the designated
textbook. SA 3,4,5,6 and HW2 deal with those topics.
-
(10/17) Subject 3 revised
One extra slide was added in Subject 3.
This is the new slide 67 of the revised
Subject 3. Both the original version and the revised
version are available in Section C; the revised
version is NOT available in canvas per Document 1
reasoning.
-
(10/10) SA4 comments and clarifications
Question 1.5. "Does a process has" should have been
"Does a process have".
Question 1.9. "Do they all get swapper" should have been
"Do they all get swapped".
-
(10/10) SA3 comments and clarifications
For question 1.3 "and before the" should be read "and just before the".
(It is the same as "and just as the".)
For question 1.5 ignore "text" as an answer: consider that it does not
exist. Otherwise the question is a bit confusing.
For Question 2, the hint's A,B,C,D refer to the four boxes rather than
to process A and process B of the question. Note that the last line
of the question tells you what the possible answers are and you can
reuse them as often as needed.
Question 5's parts are labeled 7.1-7.4. Labeling in inconsistent with
question number but it is irrelevant.
-

your later records. Grades are recorded elsewhere and rounded up if
they include decimal digits.
-
Typo SA-00 (9/6@10:11)
In Q3, 3.05 the "let b b3" should have been
"let b be".
-
Canvas link (9/6@09:58)
Between Sep 5 through Sep 6 I received in canvas several
"Broken file link" messages. These were probably automated
messages by Canvas, a result of you clicking on a button.
Only one of you on a follow-up message/email sent
me a link with the apparent problem, and it generated
my email to you through canvas : unfortunately your or me
communicating by messaging through canvas IS NOT
a good idea since it is very primitive and limited but i have
no other alternative to sending you massive (all class) messages.
As indicated in my message the problem was your clicking on a
link in Canvas / Pages. Stay away from it and also Canvas / Files.
Use as instructed Canvas/ Announcements, Modules, Assignments, and
Quizzes.
