(11/18) Typos Subject 10
Slide 9, "is known in Linux" is incomplete. Read it
"is known in Linux as InodeTable or InodeList".
Slide 9 bottom "is parent is itself" should read
"its parent is itself". An alternative is to use
slide 50!
For slide 11 used the corrected Slide 47 instead.
For a (hard link) the text "is not a filetype; is another
alias for same file" of slide 11 should read instead
"is not a filetype; is another name entry for same file".
This means a hard link is a (filename, inode#) pair entry.
SLide 22 (of the textbook): subirectory is a typo for
subdirectory!
Slide 29, How to lines: "g+w" should be "g+s" and
rightmost "u-s" should be "g-s".
(For the sticky bit t, "chmod +t" and "chmod -t" can
be provided as ways to define and undefine a sticky bit.)
(11/18) Course Status
On Wed SA7 is due. I extended SA8 and is now due on 12/4
just like SA9. Note that next week, on Wed 11/27 there is NO
class as NJIT follows a Friday schedule (and on a Friday there
are no afternoon office hours). After the
Thanksgiving recess you have in addition to SA8 and SA9,
HW3 on Dec 5, and SA 10, SA 11, and SA 12/13(joint) on Dec 11.
The earlier you complete them the better, though.
(11/18) Typo Subject 8
On Slide 37, Example 3, a "Page Table of slide 30".
It should have said "Page Table of slide 36", which is
the previous page!
Of course there is a copy of this slide in slide 40
as well: including a repetition of the typo!
Slide 52 a "Memory Access Rate" should have been
a "Memory Access Time" since we are talking about ns of
performance.
