Past Announcements (Spring 2010)

• 4/26 PA 3 emails with grades etc have been sent out.
• 4/19 Exam 3 Solutions for Exam 3, the exam itself and statistics have been posted in the protected area of the course web-page. PA 3 emails will be sent out later this week, but no later than Mon April 27.
• 4/16 PA 3 All emails received through Apr 26 (00:01am) have been acknowledged.
• 4/15 Final Exam The Registrar's Office has scheduled the final exam for Monday 5/10 starting at 14:30, ECEC 100.
• New Course Fall 2010 Are you interested in web-searching and related topics? Course CS485-101 is to be offered next semester.
• Data structures? An interesting article on the importance of studying data structures (and why it pays to revisit them from time to time) appears in the April 2010 issue of the Communications of the ACM. Here is the link.
• 4/11 Reminder Exam 3 is scheduled for this coming Thursday. 45min/100pts. Material that will be covered includes quicksort all the way through binary search trees and tree traversals. New material that will be covered in class on 4/12 will not be in the exam. Exam 3 is open-textbook.
• PS 8 has been uploaded. (4/8)
• 3/25 Part I: PS 7/PA 2 PS 7 has been posted; PA2 emails with grades have been sent out.
• 3/25 Part II: Final Exam The Registrar's Office has announced a tentative day for the final exam. Things might change however. Thus the not finalized information for the final exam is as follows: Mon 5/10 at 14:30, ECEC 100.
• 3/25 Part III: Exam 2 The exam with its solutions has been posted.
• Midterm performance/Exam 2 info Exam 2 statistics are now available. Midterm class performance guidance is now available; it is based on Ex1 and Ex2 only and ignores the PAs. (3/23,3pm)
• NJIT email and connectivity Most submissions sent during the weekend or late Friday, have been acknowledged on Monday. Look at the news item below for up-to-date information.
• PA 2 For those of you who are submitting PA 2 well before the Mar 15 extension, all email received has been acknowledged through Monday Mar 15 (00:50am, Tue Mar 16).
• Snow cancellation The cancelled class of Thu Feb 25 (4-5:25pm) will extend the semester (as far as CS435 classes are concerned) to Thursday May 6 from the original Monday May 3. Thus, the last day of classes will be Thursday May 6, 4-5:25pm. The exam period is Saturday May 8 to Friday May 14; consult the registrar's web-page for exam-related information.
• PS 6 has been uploaded to keep up with the posting calendar; however due to the snow delay, material related to it will be covered in the week of Mar 8 and afterwards.
• Exam 2 Exam 2 is scheduled for this coming Thursday March 11. The material that it covers is cumulative and equivalent to online Subjects 1-6 and PS 1-5. This is roughly CHAPTERS 1,2,3,4,6,7,10 of the designated textbook (CLRS 2e). Check Handout 1 for more details.
• PA 2 Given the cancellation of Thu and Fri NJIT classes and the subsequent disruption of this class's schedule, PA 2 submissions will be accepted all the way through Monday March 15, 2010.
• Canceled Class NJIT has not yet determined how to deal with the missed class on Thu. A notice will be posted when guidance from NJIT becomes available.
• Feb 25: Snow note It seems (as of 12:13pm of Feb 25) that our afternoon class has been cancelled. Check the NJIT web-page for details on how this might affect you and your other classes.
• PS 5 has been uploaded (2/22).
• Exam 1 Statistics, the exam, and solutions have been uploaded (2:21pm 2/19).
• PA 1 All emails has been acknowledged (15:19, 2/18).
• Thu Feb 18 : Exam 1 Check Handout 1 for details. Closed book. 45mins; class resumes after the exam. It covers roughly the first four chapters of CLRS as explained in class.
• Thu Feb 11 NJIT is closed through noon (because of the inclement weather). Morning office hours are cancelled. The class will meet as scheduled in the afternoonNEW (Feb 10, 21:55)

• PS 3 is now available for download from section C.(2/4)
• PS 2 is now available for download from section C.(1/25)
• ALERT! (1/22) THE ROOM FOR THE CLASS HAS CHANGED. IT IS NOT FMH 404 ANY MORE. IT HAS MOVED TO KUPFRIAN 208. THIS CHANGE TAKES EFFECT IMMEDIATELY. Therefore on Monday go to KUPFRIAN 208 for the afternoon session, and any other session thereafter. (Friday Jan 22, 11:44am)

• PA 2 A minor typo has been corrected. Function nclrssrt appeared twice as nclrsrt (with one s). The old version of pa2.pdf is still available.

• 01/21 Programming assignments have been uploaded in section B.
• 01/19 Subjects 1-5 have been made available in the password-protected section C.
• 01/19 Syllabus information (Handout 1) and other handouts (Handouts 0, 2-6, Formulae collection) are available through section B.
