Past Announcements (Spring 2018)
-
MP Logistics (4/18)
I noticed that some of you have submitted already the MP, but there is also a DRAFT
hanging there. Make sure that DRAFT become submissions eventually. Also note that sometimes
when you upload moodle complains about a server error; wait it out for a minute or two and
it would fix itself.
-
MP (4/11)
Note that the link in Section B reminds you of the revised schedule
of CS 435 after the two snow-related cancellations. The due date for MP
has been extended to Mon Apr 23. However if your submission on
MOODLE is at noon or after of Mon Apr 23, late penalties apply
starting noon time of Apr 18 (original due date). So submit before NOON
of Apr 23 and also read the moodle comment below re HW5.
-
Subjects (4/11)
All subjects 1-11 have now been posted.
All Section C material has been posted.
-
PS8 and Problem Sets (4/9)
The last problem set, PS8 has been posted. Note that because of
the snow delays class material is still in sync with PS 6.
-
HW5; Moodle (4/9)
HW5 has been posted; it is due before noon of Apr 18, 2018.
When I uploaded a file to moodle yesterday moodle
complained about 'server not found' and about something 'JSON' related.
Ignore it for a while (click on OK). After a minute or two double check
and your file should be there. If after five minutes you
don't see the file repeat. NOTE: only pdf files are uploadable for
homeworks. And for the MP it only accepts .zip or .tar files.
Grading HW4 (4/4)
Somehow moodle reports the grades / pts of hw4 as out of 100. It is not
correct (and i donot know how to fix it). Every HW given so far is out of 10pts.
(I do not rely on moodle for grade processing; i have a separate grade file and i
record grades there by hand.)
-
Update re next HW (4/4)
The posted calendar in Handout 1 (Syllabus) indicates that today HW5 and PS7 would
be posted. Due to the two missing classes HW5 will be delayed one week.
PS7 has been posted but it will cover material from next week.

introductory graph representation schemes and use the PageRank algorithm as an application.
Thus we will complete the coverage of the two last options of MP.
-
HW4 and PS6 posted (3/28)
HW4 has been posted to moodle. It covers questions related to the material to be covered
in class tonight and in the recitation. A PS6 has been posted (delayed posting by one week).
