11/21 Subjects and other Handouts
All of them have been posted. No additional material is expected to be posted between
today and the end of the semester.

is a Thursday for NJIT; no office hours.

11/15 Clarification PrP Option 2 (Kleinberg's HITS and Brin and Page's PageRank)
When N is greater than 10, you need only print the rank values (hub/authority or pageranks)
AT the last ITERATION only; not for the iterations leading to it. Thus if the last iteration is
20, there is no output for Iter 1 through 19 nor for Base.
However if you generate output for 1-19 and Base this will NOT BE CONSIDERED WRONG.
The item that will be graded however is the fact that for N greater than 10 you are
expected to output one vertex per line.

11/11 Exam 2 Solutions
have been posted in Section C.

11/08 Typo Subject 7
There was a typo on page 32. Equation (3) showed a 1/d instead of the correct d.
Likewise the middle part of equation (4) showed a 1/d instead of the correct d.
For equation (4) the right-hand side of it always included the correct form of PR(A).

11/07 Subjects and Problem Sets
As of today, all Subjects from 1 through 9 have been posted.
Moreover PS 4 has just been posted.

11/04 Exam 2
The exam has been graded. It will be returned during the break
of the Mon Nov 7 class.
Statistics are available in section C.4.
Midterm class guidance is available through link C.1.a; it is based
on Exam 1 and Exam 2 performance.

10/31 Exam 2 related
Exam 2 is still being graded (Mon Oct 31, 11:19am).
The Exam has been posted in Section C.
By next Monday
(before 5pm), information re Exam 2 (statistics) will be posted. In addition,
some midterm class performance guidance will be provided in
Section C.1.a based on Exams 1 and 2 that
constitute slightly more than 50\% of overall course performance.
Exam 2 solutions will be posted afterwards.

10/31 Subjects and PS3 Posted
Subjects 6, and 7 have been posted in Section C. Note that Subject 9 already
posted will not be covered out-of-sequence after all. It will be covered
after Subject 8 as originally planned. PS3 has been posted. The shedule of posting
problem sets has changed a little bit.

10/24 Exam 2 tonight (6pm) Monday
The distribution of exam papers will commence at 6pm, the exam will start
at 6:05pm and after a 10minute break at 8:05pm the class will resume at
8:15pm. I Will cover the comparison tree model and the complexity of comparison-based
sorting, and distribution based sorting (remainder of Subject 5).

10/19 Exam 2
The material for Exam 2 this coming Monday draws from Subjects
1,2,3,4,5 (only quick-sort)
and the corresponding chapters of the textbook plus PS1 and PS2 (the
problems that relate to those 5 Subjects given that some PS2 problems
are from Subject 6). Plus the relevant Handouts, if need be (eg Handout 3
and Handout 4 that are Subject 2 related).

The exam has been posted in Section C. Statistics about the exam are available through the
Statistics section.

9/27 First Exam
Informtation about exam logistics are in Handout 1. The exam is open textbook (GT) but neither
Subject notes nor any other notes are allowed; if you do not bring you own (hard) copy of the textbook
you are not allowed to borrow one from a fellow student. Material included draws from
Subjects 1,2, and 3 (pages 1-8). This is roughly Chapter 1, Sections 2.1-2.3, Section 4.1 and 4.2.1
and 4.2.2 of the textbook plus more non textbook related information.
Seating arrangement are available in section C.1.b of the protected area of the course web page.
