As of the fall 2007 semester the school of management offers students three options to fulfill their
ECON 201 general university requirement. One may take the course in a traditional classroom setting, as a
hybrid course, or as a
distance learning course.
For those who choose a hybrid section, it will involve biweekly
on-campus workshops with distance learning interactions.
The days and times of the workshops are: day sections, Friday, 1:00 p.m.-3:55 p.m.; evening sections, Monday, 6:00 p.m.-9:05 p.m.
The distance learning sections of ECON 201 do not have any required workshops,
all course interactions are through a robust virtual interface. A student that chooses a distance learning
section must be very self-disciplined; a student must be willing and able to take the initiative
to do independent study.
For both the hybrid and distance learning sections of ECON 201 there will be numerous homework assignments throughout the semester. All
assignments are due by their deadlines, no extensions are given. In addition, there are on-campus exams; Exam I covers microeconomics
and Exam II is on macroeconomics. All exams are on campus.
