This presentation will address the process of powder mixing as an essential unit operation. The emphasis will be on pharmaceutical powder mixing. Theories of powder mixing (random, non-random, total and ordered mixing) will be explained. Interparticulate forces responsible for the formation of ordered units will be defined and identified. Improvement of powder mixing through enhancement of particle interactions will also be addressed in this presentation.
