Accomplishments
Vibrated hoppers
- A 2-dimensional vibrated hopper and sample collection system has been built
- studies are conducted to examine the effect of vibrations as a function of applied vibration frequency, amplitude, and duration
- several regimes in a closed vibrated hopper are identified
- segregation caused upon delivery with and without vibrations is studied
- mathematical models are developed based on a continuum based analysis of flow out of hoppers
A new, magnetically assisted powder flow (MAPF) enhancement system is developed
- experimental studies show that controlled discharge of unconsolidated and consolidated cohesive powders can be obatained
A new reliable method for measurement of the angle of repose (AOR) is developed (based on MAPF)
